The topic of Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) is gaining attention not only in Malaysia, but globally. Both Bank Negara and Securities Commission have issued frameworks and guidelines to help companies towards compliance.

To prepare SMEs, the Malaysian Government has introduced Skim Insentif Kelestarian. Skim Insentif Kelestarian is fully subsidized (FREE training) by the Malaysian Government. This programme is designed to facilitate collaborative efforts among Malaysian businesses to create a more sustainable and socially responsible future.

By joining the programme, SMEs will have access to modules that are co-developed with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and value-added benefits as follows:

•    Expert guidance on ESG best practices and implementation strategies
•    Networking opportunities with other like-minded businesses
•    Educational resources and training sessions
•    A platform to showcase your ESG initiatives and achievements

Based on SMEs' readiness to adopt ESG and criteria set in the programme, SMEs have the potential to receive the ESG Adoption Fund grant worth up to RM40,000.00 per company that is allocated by the ministry.
